About Juan Hernandez

Juan was born in Oakland, California, and from an early age was fascinated with drawing and animation. He studied Media Art and Animation at the Art Institute of California before graduating into the film and animation industries, working for Halon Entertainment, Fox Studios, Lucasfilm Animation and the Walt Disney Animation Studios. His film and television credits include Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Planes: Fire and Rescue, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, Moana and Ralph Breaks the Internet.

How the Classes Work

The class runs on Wednesday afternoons at 3.45pm (UK) time. Juan will be delivering the class direct from California, before he heads off to work at Walt Disney Animation Studios on Raya and the Last Dragon!

The class will be streamed live via GoToMeeting. This is a free piece of software that allows participating schools to log into the exclusive weekly webcast.

Participating schools, colleges and universities should nominate a member of staff to supervise each week’s class. A private link will be sent prior to each week’s session, allowing the staff member to stream the live webcast to any classroom or lecture theatre equipped with a PC, projector and screen! GoToMeeting also allows real-time interaction, so staff can ask questions on behalf of their students and ask for clarification or further explanation as required.

What if I Can’t Make That Time?

If your timetable cannot accommodate the start time of Wednesday at 3.45pm, don’t worry! The class will be recorded and will be available to participating schools for 7 days, so you can play the recording for your students at a time that is convenient to you! There will also be a special email address, so if you or your cohort have questions about that week’s class you can send them in, and Juan will answer them live at the start of the next session!
