We will be using professional industry software- the UNREAL ENGINE (also known as UE4)! It is the exact same game engine used in games, animation and films studios around the world! It was even used during the production of the smash-hit new Star Wars TV show THE MANDALORIAN! And the best bit is- Unreal is absolutely FREE to download and use!
We usually run these sessions face-to-face in weekly classes at fantastic schools around the UK, but during the lockdown we’re making our classes available to EVERYONE at a super low price!

We will teach you how you can make your very own playable game with NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!
We’ll start with a LIVE one-hour webcast, where we will demonstrate the software and build a full game before your eyes. Then you’ll be given access to 8 exclusive videos that explain every step of the process from the ground up, allowing you to build your own game from scratch using the free-to-use UNREAL ENGINE! Topics we’ll cover include:
• Third Person Games • Making Moving Platforms• Variables • Datatypes • Conditional Constructs • Artifical Intelligence (AI) • Adding Fire and Explosions • Spawning Characters •
One week later you will also be invited to a LIVE online Q and A, where you can ask us any questions about the course or about game development in general!
WHO IS THE COURSE SUITABLE FOR?
We usually run these courses for pupils of age 12-16, but wherever you are in your education- or even just want to learn a new skill- this course will be a great intro to game building. It should be accessible to everyone from ages 9 and above, although parental assistance may be required for some aspects of the course for those under 12.
WHAT DO I NEED?
The Unreal Engine is free to download and use, but there are some system requirements for your computer; these are the current recommended specifications:

To make things as easy as possible during lockdown, you can choose to start the course on any one of three weekends in April- the 4th, the 11th or the 18th. It doesn’t matter which one you choose- you’ll start with a live one-hour webinar on the date that you choose, and then be given access to all 8 course videos. A week later you’ll also be invited to a live Q and A webinar so that we can answer any questions that you may have!
